Umesh, 45,has been a cartoonist for 15 years. He made his first mark as cartoonist in a drawing competition at school
level in the year 1976 fit the age of 10. The appreciation to his work by the people find colleagues at the very early stage, forced him to enter into thjs field. He then started drawing and sketching all sorts of things and situations whatever1 caught his attention. Born op. 20 October. 1964 in a middle class family in Joirishedpurv Iijs father was a TATA STEEL employee. He Graduated in AAechanlcal Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology. For him. cartooning over any situation must have at least 50 percent idear 30 percent humour with satire and 20 percent drawing. It Is really desperate moment for him right from the morning to evening till he gets "that one new idea he is look-ing to draw hjs cartoons searching over newspapers and television. He sees at as challenge to himself not as a job. Cartoonist, according to him doesn't plan to draw cartoons. It just happens spontaneously.
Alsor cartooning needs a great deaf of visual sensitivity and observation. A cartoonist does not speak for himself, he speaks for the general opmjon; he speaks for what the common man thinks. He doesn't pursue an ideology; he doesn't belong to a party. He just follows a common sense.
A cartoonist, cs Umesh feels must have three basic things - properly educated, talent to draw all sorts of sketches and a very good sense of humour!
His cartoons depjet the upset situation in everyday personal and professional Jife. His humour Is directed at the vast community that is getting upset owing to lot of problems In social and professional life and because of our politicians and political system. A numerous reasons are there for the upset situation in India e.g. terrorism, corruption In high places. power shortage, water crisis, soaring prices, strikes and traff jc jams.
He prefers to be isolated at least 3-4 hrs ever/ day and think about the most embarrassing situation and development that has happened. He always try to entertain himself not anybody else. It Is more important for me to satisfy myself than anybody else, he says.
He also conduct Workshop on Cartoon drawing designed and developed by him for the normal beginner people and the corporate world plus business class.
