Umesh, 45, has been a cartoonist for the last 20 years. He made his first mark as cartoonist in a drawing competition at school level in the year 1976 at the age of 9. The appreciation to his work by the surrounding people and colleagues , inspirated him to enter into this field. He then started drawing and sketching all sorts of things and situations who caught his attention.

Born on. 20th October 1964 in a middle class family in Jamshedpur. . He Graduated in Mechanlcal Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology. MESRA (Ranchl) in the year 1989. Very much Inspired by the cartoons of renowned cartoonist, R.K. Laxrnan's whose cartoons appear regularly In Times of India daily.

For him, cartooning is an important and intelligent activity which should must have at least 50 percent imagination or idea, 30 percent humour and only 20 percent drawing. It Is really desperate moment for him right from the morning to evening till he gets the new idea he is looking for to draw hjs cartoons.. He sees it as challenge to himself not as a job. Cartoonist, according to him doesn't plan to draw cartoons, it just happens spontaneously.

All Cartooning activity requires a great deal of visual sensitivity and powerfull observation. According to him, a cartoonist does not speak for himself, he speaks for the general opinion; he speaks for what the common man thinks. He also doesn't pursue an ideology; doesn't belong to a party, he just follows a common sense.
His cartoons depict the upset situations of personal and professional life. His humours are directed at the vast community who faces upset situations owing to problems In social and professional life especially because of our political and judiciary system. A numerous reasons are there for the upset situation in India e.g. terrorism, corruption In high places. power shortage, water crisis, illitracy, unemployment, soaring prices, strikes, traffjc jams ........ etc.

He prefers to be isolated for at least 3-4 hrs every day and think about the most embarrassing situation developed during the last 24 hours in the country and the surroundings. He always tries to entertain himself first and then to anybody else through his cartoons. It Is more important for him to satisfy himself than anybody else, he says.
